Homeopathy and Fertility

To be fertile, a woman needs to have functioning ovaries, a reserve of healthy eggs, healthy fallopian tubes and a healthy uterus.  There are many issues that can affect female fertility, conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis and fibroids, as well as diet, chemicals and stress.

There are homeopaths who have been treating fertility for several years, many of whom claim an 87% success rate.  Sarah Saunders has studied the remedies that these homeopaths use and will liaise with a homeopath in the UK who is very knowledgeable in this area.  We would like to invite ten couples to take part in our Fertility Research Program, this will include dietary advice and removal of harmful chemicals – this includes skin products that can overburden the liver, which can lead to issues with hormonal balance.  The ones to avoid are:

Fragrance, perfume

Phthalates – these are fixtures for the fragrance, they help you to continue smelling fragrances on your clothes for weeks and weeks

Every ingredient ending in the word paraben

Sodium Lauryl sulphate (SLS)

Dietary guidelines can boost fertility, for instance removing caffeine and alcohol from the diet (they also disrupt the liver’s ability to clear hormones).  It is also best to remove refined sugar completely, as high blood sugar can cause irregular ovulation.  A list of foods that support the liver will be supplied, as well as foods that will support the adrenals, thyroid and liver.  Depending on each individual’s situation often a cleanse will be recommended, this can be for seven days or longer depending upon health issues.

Many studies have been conducted with regard to sperm.  Once such study was The Rochester Young Men’s Study (RYMS) conducted trials on students from the University of Rochester from 2009 – 2010 and amongst other things found that a high intake of full fat dairy foods, especially cheese was associated with greater abnormalities in sperm quality.  This could be due to the large amounts of estrogens in dairy products, or this could be due to the presence of environmental contaminants such as pesticides and chlorinated pollutants in these products.  So we will formulate a dietary program for male partners.

It is important to prepare for your pregnancy, and we at the Harbord Homeopathic Clinic would like to assist on your journey.
